Cooking tips for better health!
The key to low fat cooking is just as much in the ingredients as it is in the method of cooking. Here are some helpful tips:
- Trim all visible fat from beef and poultry, and remove the skin from poultry before eating.
- Bake, broil, or roast meat dishes instead of deep-fat frying them. To prevent drying and to add flavour, baste with wine, lemon juice, or a low-fat broth.
- If pan- or stir-frying, use small amounts of vegetable oils such as canola or safflower oil; also increase your use of olive oil.
- Have a glass of Dairy Dairy Low Fat or Dairy Dairy Skimmed Milk with your meal instead of fruit juices or soft drinks that are full of sugar and wasted calories.
